Rome was my mind...then....

I love travelling

I love planning for travel

So for months now, Rome was on my mind

My sis and I are in sync that attending mass at St Peter square would be the grandest thing yet...and just like that an idea was born. That as we turn a new year in September, we mark this with mass in Rome, Italy- dates were set September 22-26

Then boom!

Earthquake in Italy

Too scared to go there

Mission changed (mission aborted sounds bad)

So now Dubai it is

Yes we have been there - but cant get enough of all the grand things to see there

The trip was grand....and this time, we took the open air bus tour round the city, day and night!! So glad we did this!!

Thanks be to God for the successful visit

Now, where next?? I wonder!!

But...Rome is still on my mind!

WEPESI

Back in the day the means of transport for quick access to Eldoret was via the vehicle called WEPESI  - which i later came to learn meant Western Peugoet Service

This car could move!! from Nairobi to Eldoret using Eldoret Express took you a full 7-8 hours but Wepesi cut this trip by half!! No rules on the road or they were not known, am not sure. All I know is that during those campus days, I preferred Wepesi - God knows why I was rushing to Nairobi!

In retrospect, cant imagine the risk I exposed myself to!!

Travelling around the world

I met two young ladies from Europe who have taken a gap year (a break from college?) and come to volunteer for one month at one of the large refugee camps in northern Kenya; then after that, they trek around another country for another month or so - just to have fun!. What an experience!!!... woooowwww......I mean, what was I up to at 19years???....seating in the house waiting for campus selection and meanwhile doing housework, reading novels and watching lots of TV...

Some years back, my colleague had mentioned that her daughter was taking a trip round the world! I was so impressed and wondered at the cost for such a trip...she said there were agencies in Netherlands that organise this all the time (based on the kind of stops one wants to make) so you book very very early and get an extremely cheap ticket. So its actually possible for one to save up for such a trip if thats what they want to do. And because her mother was such an angle of a colleague, wherever she went she stayed with friends or her mothers friends...to get the actual experience of living in a particular community. This is the kind of colleague who if she asked me whether her daughter would stay with me for a couple of days i would say yes without even blinking an eyelid!!

such is life.......

we each get to have different experiences and hopefully our perspectives change for the better!!
