10 year challenge
so social media has this challenge where one posts pictures that are 10 years apart
December 2009 I was a mother of one toddler and another one had just turned one - and I had my hands full with them. The first one was the playful kind and grew quickly so soon was even difficult to carry him around. I would not have guessed that just 10 years later I would have a third one in my brood! I was working with an NGO.... I was still struggling to clear MBA which I had started 3 years earlier in 2006
December 2019 Am seated here working at a social enterprise that is again not what I thought I would ever work in....dealing with technology. Interesting stuff.
Biggest lesson - one can never tell 100pc what their life would pan out to be
Believe in God
Guard your thought actions and emotions
And all will be well!!
Look what I have learnt!!.......I turned the big 4-0 in 2014 and decided what better way to mark this than to have a blog that I can write all the things I have learnt/ am learning in this great journey called LIFE...

So now am in a co working space
Looks like fun
except for the noise!
goodness gracious!
the shuffling around
the open area discussions
the pulling of sofas
so when i got these 'noise cancelling' headphones
as a birthday gift
I was over the moon!!
now cant even hear the person next to me
LOL

5 years later
So I started this blog when I turned 40
To jot down what am learning
in this journey called life
This year, I am drawn to the sunflower
and as the song goes
As a sunflower, that follows every movement of the sun
So I turn towards you, and follow you, My Lord!
In simplicity, modesty, I follow!!
In simplicity, modesty, I follow!!
Amen

True wealth!!
Today (Friday June 21) I heard an inspiring sermon
It was based on the fruits of the Holy Spirit
That we spend so much time and energy trying to get material things (money, fame etc), yet at the end of our life.....what really matters was another form of wealth
That the true wealth that we should be investing in is Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Gentleness Faithfulness and Self control...the fruits of the Holy Spirit
Take a moment and reflect on how these shows up in your life and what legacy you wish to leave based on these fruits!

Dr Margaret Ogola...
The year is 1994
I was a wide eyed first year student in Moi University, Chepkoilel Campus
I had joined the Catholic Students Association (CSA), and one evening we have presenters coming to speak to us. Never heard of her before and I have nothing to do (thruth be told) and so I say...why not? let me go and listen to the good doctor
Turns out that this was a game changer for me! The doctor was none other that Dr Margaret Ogola, author of the River & the Source and a brilliant doc as described in article below
http://ctscatholiccompass.org/remembering-dr-margaret-ogola-a-brilliant-catholic-doctor-campaigner/
The topic was family planning and what the catholic church says about this. All I remember is her candid and very simple breakdown of what hormon based family planning methods do to ones body...I took in every word and was shocked at the information, never had i had it explained so clearly!! This shaped my thinking big time! to this day, I do not advocate for hormonal based methods...thats me!!
Our paths were to cross again in 2011 the year she passed away....this was via a phone call....which again I can never forget.....you see she was a Board member where I worked and I was asked to try and trace her so that we can make some changes to the Board. I looked for her number for months and finally one day...voom....when I called....a very frail voice picked....and she said yes, she was Dr Ogolla....but in hospital....so cant quite sign anything....and I was like thats ok...get well wishes....and that was it.....last contact i had with her
So google reminded today that it would have been her 60th birthday
Rest well with the angels Daktari!
