Letter to 18 yr old self!

 2022

Letter to 18 year old Hilda

Its 1992...you have just turned 18 in September and soon after sat for KCSE

Limuru Girls (Chox) has been good to you

You left Chox a more confident young lady than the bewildered one who entered the brown gates 4 years earlier from Mukumu

The future is not certain - but for some reason, you are not scared of it at all

Results come out and soon, you are off to Moi University

You settle in well in Moi and make great friends - but are extremely cautious because of the near horror stories that your sister gives from Maseno university. In your eyes, Trust No One!!

1998 rolls in and you graduate and go into the Big Big World...thrust into women's rights agenda unexpectedly and this defines who you become...a crusader for the rights of girls and women.

Some things you now know for sure

 - be kind to others...you don't know what people are going through

 - value friendships - make time for them

 - its never that serious

 - no matter what happens, the day has to end, and a new day starts

 - celebrate the way you want and what matters to you :)

and just like that its 2022 and you are seating here in Nairobi on a Wednesday evening with 9 friends from Chox

See God!

Onto another 30years....

First concert post corona

 Today was a great day!

woke up early and dashed off to parklands

Sinach is in town

the concert was nice!

first part was full of music that was too youthful for me!

finally Sinach came on stage

My best song was

'...Walking in Abundance

Moving with the speed of the Holy Ghost!

I AM FAVOURED!...''

he was happy..and we had a great time

next we organise a wedding

so much to do

so little time

so many ideas!

family and friends rallied around us

everyone was happy for us

between Aug and Nov - like 3 months

Nov 24 2006

we tied the knot

apo Our Lady Queen of Peace (OLQP) south B

and reception just near the church

evening we danced away at a place in westlands

heres to many more years

of choosing each other daily

of raising 3 humans

of making each other better!

10yrs later we took this photo

15yrs later we took this one!

So help us God!

oh what a cold!

 July 2 2021

So - I have not been well

goodness!

i have had a cold in the past, but never this version

so on sunday i went to church, and once again was not warmly dressed

given that it was 8am mass

after mass, i layered up and stayed put in the house

monday rolled in and i had a meeting from 2pm

sun was out and so i didn't bother with a sweater

and we sat on the terrace

and took in all the cold

Tuesday and Wednesday I was basically curled up in bed

with heavy head

extreme fatigue

and no appetite

funny taste in mouth

thursday i was much better

took a short walk and came back and had to nap

now friday, woke up with a sharp chest pain

still have the funny taste in my mouth

and then my nose started bleeding

but mercifully just stopped

i googled about common cold

typically symptoms should subside after 3 days

could it be??

i dont know

i got better after 8 days

I am not my hair!

I love this period where I work from home

Means I dont have to worry about my hair

And it also means I can have whichever hairstyle i want

So some months ago

I watched a vlog that said that this lady did normal small matutas

and let them grow out into braids

I decided

mmm

this is about a nice time to have my dreadlocks

CWA...mama wa kanisa

This year has really flown past

Its already September!

So I registered to join Catholic Women Association

My why is that I have a strong urge to come closer to God

and be a good example to my children

I have been toying with the idea for some time

challenge is CWA is associated with maShosho

and i dont feel like a granny

so i hesitated

but now that i have gone through formation classes since January 2021

i realise this is just unfortunate PR

any Catholic lady above 18 should consider joining

and make the association more effective

kueneza injili ya Bwana

St Monica, our patron saint, pray for us!!

Amen!
